Budget Win for Charities

Scroll

The federal budget brings some positive news for charities. It introduces a temporary First Time Donor’s Super Credit (“FDSC”). If neither the donor nor their spouse has claimed a donation to charity in any taxation year after 2007 then the FDSC will supplement the Charitable Donation Tax Credit with an additional 25 percent tax credit on up to $1000 of cash donation. Not a big win but a win nonetheless. For all us involved in charitable giving it is all about the little steps and this is just one more little step to encourage greater support for charities.
