World Housing – 3D House Printing

Part of our mission statement is to give back to our global and local community. As part of our global community, Bell Alliance is a proud supporter of World Housing (https://worldhousing.org/). World Housing helps build homes for the poorest of the poor. Our first project funded by Bell Alliance and the Nexgen Forward group was in Bogota, Colombia in 2017. In 2018, we became involved in a project in El Salvador with families likely moving in to their new house just as you are reading this article.

The entire Bell Alliance team contributes to World Housing through fun office fundraisers. Activities include the Buzzword Jar game, an ice cream cart, casual day and a bocce tournament. Our top activity in 2018 was our ‘Bell Alliance Baking Championship – Cookie Edition!’ Lawyers and employees baked cookies and then the rest of the office donated and were the judges to decide who had the best cookie. Everyone enjoyed tasting all the delicious treats!

In October, Richard Bell (who was chosen to become part of the World Housing Ambassador team) flew to El Salvador to witness the progress of 15 homes being built with contributions from Bell Alliance and Nexgen Forward. Not only was Richard able to view the homes and witness the construction, but he met the individuals and families that will be living in these homes. Richard heard their stories about how significant these homes will be in order for them to provide a better life for themselves and their children.

For the holiday season, Bell Alliance decided to opt out of sending our usual holiday cards and instead took part in the ‘Home for the Holidays’ initiative with World Housing. The campaign ran from December until January 15th and we set our fundraising goal to $6,500, which would build a home for 4-5 people in El Salvador. Due to our generous strategic partners and clients, we were able to surpass our goal and raise $8,053! One of our clients who donated to our campaign was inspired by this non-profit organization, reached out to World Housing and donated a significant additional amount.

Starting in the fall of 2019, homes will be built using a new innovative 3D technology. This technology will be used to build homes throughout Latin America. For more information on this technology, check out this site: https://worldhousing.org/the-worlds-first-3d-printed-community/.

Bell Alliance is honoured to offer continuous support by raising awareness about World Housing not only in our office but also to our clients and strategic partners. We are particularly excited about the impact of the innovative 3D printing technology not only to house the poorest of the poor but in the near future impact the cost of housing in the developed world – stay tuned for some exciting news!
